YieldWars Special Edition Battle: Buterin vs. Botez Chess Match ♟️

Chess is a game that has stood throughout the ages across different regions and cultures as a test of strategy, wit, and mental fortitude. After a number of requests within our community, we have decided to launch a special edition battle for the upcoming chess match between Vitalik Buterin and Alexandra Botez via winner-take-all betting pools (live now). In the meantime, we will be pausing our Twitter WAR in order to bring our full attention to the chess match.
Tale of the Tape
Vitalik Buterin is best known as the co-founder of Ethereum but has shown a particular interest in chess. Along with playing with his peers on Friday nights, Vitalik has created his own variation of the game, 1.58 dimensional chess which has 27 open squares and is based on the Sierpinski triangle. Alexandra Botez is an American-Canadian chess player and Twitch streamer who currently holds the title of Woman FIDE Master. She has been playing chess since the age of 6 and has earned a number of accolades including being the Canadian National Girls Champion five times and has played in multiple Chess Olympiads. Along with her sister Andrea, Botez has a Twitch channel where she streams her chess matches and a Youtube channel which both collectively have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
Rules
Just as in our election battle, there will be two sides (one for Vitalik and one for Botez) for people to bet in and it's winner-take-all. The bets will be denominated in WAR and ETH. If you bet in WAR then you can only win WAR and if you bet in ETH then you can only win ETH. The winnings will be distributed in proportion to what each person bet. Because this battle is zero-sum and the contracts are unaudited, we strongly suggest those who participate to exercise caution and to not put in more WAR or ETH that they are willing to lose.
The battle will be resolved using Botez’s Twitch livestream. In the event that multiple chess matches are played, then only the first match counts. In addition, the first match counts even if one or both players play with a handicap.
